Day For Kids
September 20th , 2008
On Sept. 20th,
2008, many of our members went to the event,
Day for Kids, at Barnes Park in City of
Monterey Park. We separated our group into
different teams; where we helped set up game
booths and became attendants for the booths.
Booths included ball games such as tick-tac-toe,
connect 4, and some sport games. There were
also booths that helped kids with face
painting and blowing bubbles. Other groups
also helped with special event including the
the Triathlon. We had a really fun day!!!

Festival of Pilipino Arts
and
Culture
September 6, 2008
We had an event Festival of Philippine Arts
and Culture on Sept. 6. Our members went to
San Pedro and helped to run the booths.
Some members helped to sell traditional
Philippine paintings, while other members
helped to make bracelets. We also got free
lunch! It wasn't that hot since it's close
to the beach, so some of our members went to
the beach after the event. We had so much
fun that day.

Y-Me Walk to Empower
May 11, 2008
This past Sunday, May 11, was the event:
Y-ME Walk to Empower. It was a three-mile
walk at Redondo Beach for breast cancer. The
day was nice and cool by the water, perfect
for a walk. Our members met and left
promptly at 6 AM. Despite a few wrong turns,
we made it on time at 7 AM. After getting
some bright volunteer shirts and eating some
snacks, we were put
to work equipped with clappers to cheer on
the walkers. However, two of us
were left behind to hand out shirts to those
who raised $100 or more. It
was great to see how much everyone cared
about this issue and what they'll
do for it. Some people provided thousands of
dollars by themselves. In the
end, we helped clean up the tables, banners,
and trash. We had a great
time working with coordinators of the event
and finished up the day with
lunch at Ruby's.

habitat center. There were breaks
throughout the day and members got to see
wildlife animals, such as snakes, hawks, and
turtles. Overall, it was a beautiful and
fun day having to help out the San Gabriel
Valley with their projects. Thank you all
for your hard work!!

'Til
Death TV Taping
May 2, 2008
Fifteen of our members went to the
taping of "'Til
Death" on
May 2, 2008 as one of our fundraising
events.
Thank you all that had successfully attended the
taping. This taping will not be as fun without
you.
Unlike our prior TV Taping events, to avoid
hunger during the taping, we went to Little
Tokyo to eat lunch together before going to the
taping site.
The taping was overall very fun. Our host,
Roger, was very entertaining. He put the
spotlight on some of our members like Megan with
a K (Kegan) and his dance teacher, Mrs Lefler,
then Timon the Canadian Transfer student (Mike),
Albert, and Diego from Chile. Thank you guys for
representing our Society. I'm very proud of you
guys :) In additional, the studio also gave us
pizza and water along with some candies. At the
end of the show, a couple of us even got an
autograph from one of the cast that play the
next door neighbor, Jeff Woodcock (Eddie Kaye
Thomas a.k.a. American Pie).
Thank you all for coming to the show

Mt.
Sac All-Star Pep Rally
April 30, 2008
The Mt. SAC All-Star Pep Rally was an event
hosted by Mt. SAC Associated Students on
April 30th. The main purpose of this event
was to get the students at large to get to
know the athletes. Athletes work hard
everyday at practice to better themselves
and represent our school. This event served
as a way to congratulate them for their hard
work and effort.
The All-Star event featured free throw
contests, mini games (can smash, ring toss,
water balloon contest), free food, and
music. There were representatives from each
sport participate in games and the winners
were given gift cards.
AGS members helped give out food and man the
vegetable + fruit stand while some also
helped coordinate the mini games. It was
great working with Associated Students for
such an awesome event!

Paint
Your Town Purple
April 28, 2008
We had an on campus event this week
called Paint Your Town Purple. It was split
into an two day event, one for decorations
and one for marching and cheering. The
decoration day was on Monday, April 28,2008,
where members braved the hot sun decorating
Mt. SAC's four corners. On Thursday, May 1,
2008, members walked the corner of Temple
and Grand, cheering for people to support
the awareness of cancer. Purple is the
universal color of cancer, painting the town
purple shows the support for the people
diagnosed with it. Furthermore, it was a
fun event having to walk across the corners
hearing people honking their support with
us. Thank you all who attended!!

UCLA
Book Festival
April 27, 2008
As you may know, the Los Angeles Times
Book Festival was held this
Sunday, April 27th. Everything went as
planned. We first met at Mount
Sac, and then left approximately at 10:30
A.M. After an hour drive, we
met at the parking lot of
UCLA and then
took a shuttle directly to the
event lying in the heart of the university.
Although we were boiling
under the 100 degree heat, the university
provided a free lunch, as
well as many ice cold drinks. Our main task
was basically to man the
booths and keep the lines in proper order.
Overall, we had a great
time volunteering! For those who had signed
up, but the shifts were
already full, we wish you were there!

4th General Meeting, Spring 2008
As you may know, our 4th General Meeting
was held in a nice big room,
16-7. Everything went smoothly as it started
with the introductions by
Daniel and Carol, the hosts of the meeting.
Our first guest speaker, Linda
Rillorta from the Sociology Department,
provided some information about
her Service Learning classes. Next came our
advisor, Art Nitta, to
complement our society on the unity and
excellence he saw within us. Our
final speaker was Jonathan, who encouraged
our participation in making the
school more energy efficient and
environment-friendly. We also made good
use of the space we had by having a big
paper-ball fight, and clean-up of
course.
Also, our Mentorship has been set up and
Spirit-Thursdays have started. So
wear your AGS
shirt every Thursday to get 15 minutes
towards your hours
and please keep track of your hours so you
could finish before the
semester ends. If you're interested in more
information about our
speakers, drop by the office. As always,
remember to make-up the meeting
if you were unable to attend.

Cherry
Blossom Festival
April 20, 2008
Over 30 AGS members volunteered during
the 11th Annual Cherry
Blossom Festival
of the City of Monterey Park. Held at Barnes
Park, the Festival strives to provide a
cultural arts event that offers a forum for
learning, entertainment, fun, and support of
community.
We were divided into either pairs or groups
and were given a variety of tasks in the
Festival's Game Zone. It was really fun
interacting with kids, teens, parents, and
everyone else. The Staff were very nice to
us also and provided us with free hotdogs,
chips, and soda.
Hopefully AGS gets to do this again next
year!

Huntington
Picnic and Beach Bonfire
April 19, 2008
Thank you for joining us on Saturday and
contributing to a spectacular
and fun-filled day at Huntington Beach. The
majority of us arrived at
Huntington early afternoon and barbequed at
the park. Following, we
carried our event over to the bonfire pit
where we roasted marshmallows, sandwiched
s'mores, devoured wieners, and yes, even
boiled water to make hot cocoa! I'm sure
none of us now will hear
Extreme's "More than Words" the same; we for
sure will always associate
it with my loved ones from AGS!

Paint
Your Heart Out
April 19, 2008
On April 19, a group of about nine
members met at Mt. SAC then carpooled to a
neighborhood in Anaheim. After meeting with
Denise,
the volunteer coordinator, she put us to
work with the company, CH2M Hill.
We masked off windows, set up primer, and
started a coat of paint. All the while, we
got to meet the sweet elderly homeowner of
the house we were painting, Mary. She was
nice enough to introduce herself and thank
each and every volunteer. In between
painting, we ate some snacks, took some
pictures, and got to know each other a
little better. In the end, we finished
beautifying a shed and got back in time for
the Bonfire. All in all, it was a good day
for meeting new people and helping the
community.
I just wanted to add a Thank You to Denise
for being kind and helpful with her
instructions and to the members for working
hard.

Thank you to all the members for coming last
Saturday to Earth Day and helping out in the
booths at Farmer's market in West Covina. It was a
great turn out. Although the weather was

perfect.
We were basically divided into 9 booths and we
had to give stamps to the people that come to the
booths.

Thank you everyone that helped out today
at our 1st Pizza
and Boba Sales. We really appreciate all
your help.
Sales conclusion:
We sold-out on pizzas, a total of 10 boxes, with
the help of A.S. and sold more than a hundred Boba
Milkteas; giving us approximately $250 in
profit.
It was really nice meeting all of you guys, the
members that participated in this event. We are
glad that we had a great turn-out for our first
on-campus fundraising event. Thank you all for
your help, this event would not be as successful
without your help.

3rd
General Meeting, Spring 2008
April 10, 2008
Our Honor Society is getting bigger and
bigger! Room 16-7 had a full house
on Thursday, April 10th, during the meeting
(3-4 PM). I apologize to the
members who had to stand throughout the
meeting, but I can't help feeling
glad about the great interest in our club
being generated this semester.
The meeting began with an introduction by
the hosts, Thomas and Lydia. As
the sign-in sheet was being passed around,
Krizia and Louie went over all
the events coming up, which are all listed
in the agenda. Then came time
for Heidi Lockhart from Career and Transfer
Services to speak at our
meeting. She caught our attention by opening
with a rap song she came up
with herself. After making us aware of what
is needed to transfer and
informing us of upcoming opportunities with
handouts, she concluded with a
story about an old mule. Ultimately, her
message is for us to remain
persistent until we reach our goals. After
Heidi came Kat Sanchez, the
President of EAGLE. She reassured us that
any concerns about Earth Week
would be taken care of and she appreciates
our help. The following guest
speakers consisted of Associated Student
candidates for the upcoming
elections. Brandi, Samantha, and Christian
are all running for AS
President and they wanted to ensure our
awareness of their platforms. As
the meeting drew to an end, the members were
free to sign-up for events
and grab some food as always. Also, it was
the deadline for applications
so they were being accepted in the back of
the room and T-shirts purchased
by the members were being distributed.
Remember, if you weren't able to attend the
meeting, you need to make it
up at any of our office hours within a week.
And, if you have any
questions about the guest speakers, events,
or anything else, feel free to
contact any of the officers or come to the
office hours as well. Also,
sign-ups for the events will always be
available in the office. Thank you
all and have a nice day.

Club
Attack!
April 10, 2008
AGS officers and members participated in
Inter Club Council's Club Attack held on
April 10, 2008. It was a friendly
competition among campus clubs with games
like Balloon Pop, Musical Chairs, and many
more. AGS won only one game which was the
Pie Eating Contest that our Membership
Officer Daniel Barajas participated in.
Despite the one win, it was a fun experience
for those who joined in!

"AGS
Spring 2008 State Conference"
April 4-6, 2008
On April 4, ten of our
members and our advisors, Art Nitta and Tim
Takashima, attended the Annual Alpha Gamma
Sigma State Conference at San Jose.
We left on Friday morning around 10:30am
from Mt. San Antonio College together on one
of the Mt. SAC's white vans. On the way to
San Jose, we stopped by Mt. Olive, an
organic farm/store/cafe own by Lydia's
family (our historian), for lunch. It was a
beautiful place. In the store, we sampled
many tasty organic products. After lunch,
Lydia's aunt took us on a tour around Mt.
Olive. It was a very exciting and unique
experience being able to visit such a place.
Thank you Lydia!
We reached San Jose after about eight hours
of our departure time. We settled at the
Double Tree Hotel and had a very delicious
traditional dinner at a Chinese restaurant
nearby. After dinner, we simply went back to
the hotel and gathered at Daniel's
and Thomas' hotel room to work on our
roll-call before we went to bed.
The next morning at 7:30 am, we met again
for breakfast along with other Alpha Gamma
Sigma members from different community
college. Then, after the convention
welcome, we performed our roll-call routine
that worked on the previous night. It was an
adrenaline-pumper to perform in front of
such a large crowd.
After the roll-call, we went separately to
the different workshops. Some workshops were
"AGS
Feeds the Mind and the Body Roundtable",
"Internet
Security 101 - Safeguarding your Online
Transactions"
and "Powerful Resume Writing".
During the awards ceremony, the Zeta chapter
won for "THE
LOUDEST CHEER!"
The certificate is in the office for those
of you who are interested to see it.
Then there was the scholarship
award ceremony! Congratulations to Andy Mu
for receiving the "Robert
Mantovani"
Scholarship.
On our last morning in
San Jose, our chapter won many raffle prizes. We
then left San Jose at 10:00am and arrived at Mt. San
Antonio College at 4:00pm. Overall, it was an
awesome weekend. We are so glad to have gone with
everyone. Thank you for everyone that went! The trip
would not be as fun without everyone. For those who
were not able to come this year, I recommend that
you attend this conference next year if you have the
chance.

50th
Mt. Sac Relays
April 4, 2008
Thirteen volunteers showed up to help out at
the 50th Mt. SAC Relays. There were a lot of
young children participating in the relays
from different schools. We were lucky to get
there just in time for lunch and we really
appreciate the hospitality they gave us. We
all helped out in the different events that
were happening. Some helped out at the
sports areas like the long jump area; some
guarded the stadium at different areas; and
some guided the athletes to their right
positions. Overall the event was successful
and it was great to continue this AGS
tradition!

La
Mirada Helping Hands
March 29, 2008
On March 29th, last Saturday, AGS went to
La Mirada Civic Center to help the elders to
clean their houses. The tasks were divided
into 3 groups. One group had to paint the
house and the others had to paint the fence
and do yard work. Our group had to pick up
weeds, trash, and dead plants.
It was a success. About fifteen people from
AGS went to this event. The owners of the
house and the people from the La Mirada
Civic Center provided lunch for us as well.
AGS would like to thank all the participants
who went.

2nd
General Meeting, Spring 2008
March 27, 2008
Our 2nd
general meeting was a blast! It started out
with an ice breaker called React and Act.
The members were divided into groups and
each was assigned a specific event that they
must act out. The other groups must be able
to guess what the event is. In the end, the
Orangutans won!
Afterwards, we asked members to
share their experience regarding past events they
went to, followed by the upcoming events report and
the ICC report. Finally, we went on to elections.
We would like to congratulate
the new officers: Tommy Cheang (VP of Operations),
Louie Bermudez (Secretary), and Hernando del Aguila
(ICC Rep. Alt.). We would also like to thank those
who ran for the positions.

"Duel"
TV Taping
March 28, 2008
For our first fund-raising event, we
participated as a paid audience members for
a TV show called Duel. Duel is a game that
combine trivia challenges like those on Who
Wants to be A Millionaire using the strategy
played in the World Series of Poker.
We had a good turnout for this event because
all of our members and their friends that
sign-up successfully showed up at the event,
earning us around $500 from this particular
fund-raising. On the other hand, only a
number of us was able to get in and watched
the show due to the room capacity of the
studio.
For those that were able to participate as
an audience member, we participated on the
filming of the last episode of the season.
In addition, we also participated in many
different "going to the commercials" and
"coming back from commercials" takes. We
were entertained by a host named Steve, who
believed that a number of us are related to
each other, and were able to see Mike
Greenberg, the host of Duel, directly in
person. We were able to see first hand the
way the set look like and compared the
difference to the way it looked like on TV.
From this experience, we learned the way the
studio film this particular show and its way
of using the audience participation.
I would like to thank all of the
participants for going especially those who
drove. It was very nice to see all of you
dressed up out of your normal casual
clothing. Thank you all for behaving
accordingly throughout the show.
Note: For this particular event, we do not
have a lot of pictures from this event due
to the studio restriction on camera and
cell-phone.

World
Water Day 2008
March 22, 2008
Every
year, dozens of cities across the United
States acknowledge the crisis that billions
around the world lack clean and safe water
to drink; thus, events are held to draw
attention to this such as taking walks and
making donations. This year, AGS took share
in one of these walks at the Santa Monica
Pier, and for all those who participated,
thank you! The weather on Saturday the 22nd
was beautiful -- overall, everyone enjoyed
themselves. So many of our members showed
up, and it's really great that we are all
starting our hours early! If you were not
able to participate last Saturday's walk, do
not worry! Krizia has a list of upcoming
events for the rest of this semester!

West
Covina Egg Celebration
March 15, 2008
More than 20 members volunteered for the
West Covina Egg Celebration held on March
15, 2008 at the West Covina Civic Center.
The event featured craft fairs for kids and
game booths, as well as egg hunts for
different age groups.
Our responsibilities ranged from manning the
booths and entertaining children to
supervising the egg hunt to make sure that
the children make the most out of their
experience. It was great working with the

where contestants are challenged to answer
tough questions -- questions from their own

We also elected our VP of Operations and ICC
Rep. Alt. Congratulations Jeff and Gaby!

7th
Annual Day of the Child 2007
October 14, 2007
More than 15 AGS Zeta chapter members
participated in the 7th Annual Day of the
Child event on Sunday, October 14, 2007. The
Event was designed to bring awareness and
support to the needs of children who, by no
fault of their own, are living in and out of
foster care. Thousands of high-risk children
from foster homes, residential facilities,
and homeless shelters were bused to Pierce
College in Woodland Hills for a day of fun,
games, rides and love with thousands of
volunteer mentors, including our very own
Zeta chapter members. We spent the day
mentoring to our assigned foster children in
order encourage them to develop meaningful
connections with adults in the community and
to show them that someone cares for them. At
the end of the day, the children received
care packages including books, educational
materials and every day necessities. Perhaps
the most emotional part of the day was to
say goodbye to our new friends as we dropped
them off to return home.
Realize that the little time that we spent
with our foster children during this event
will remain in their memories for years to
come. Our care, attention, and love will
give them the much needed hope in their
otherwise bleak situation to help them
achieve their dreams and aspirations.
We look forward to participating in this
event next year!

Walnut
Family Festival 2007
October 13, 2007
AGS members participated in the Walnut
Family Festival held on October 13, 2007 at
Suzanne Park. The Walnut Family Festival is
the community’s largest event. Each year,
the Festival is held at the Park and
features game booths, food, community
awareness booths, business expo, and a craft
fair.
We assisted in the recycling booth and gave
out free recycled oil containers for those
who change their own motor oil. All 200
containers were given out earlier than
anticipated, but we stayed because there
were still a lot of people who asked to be
contacted if new containers come in. It
seemed that quite a lot of people echo what
the banner in the booth stated: "Recycle
motor oil because the earth can't!"
After the event, some of the members went
bowling and had a great time!

Pizza
and Boba Sale #1
October 11, 2007
We want to thank you for those,
volunteers and customers, who helped out in
our first fundraiser. We successfully sold
ten boxes of pizzas and numerous number of
bobas, and this could not have been possible
without all of your help.
It was fun getting to get to know and work
with all of the new and returning members
this semester
Profits from this sales will go toward AGS
scholarships, social events, and our mission
to help our community. We hope that
you will come out and support our Society
again in our next fundrasier!

YMCA
Stair Climb to the Top 2007
October 6, 2007
We volunteered at the annual 2007 YMCA
Stair Climb to the Top event today, October
6, 2007. Contestants from LA County
Firefighters to 60+ year old senior citizens
climbed 1500 steps (75 stories) of the US
Bank Tower -- the tallest office building
west of the Mississippi at 1,108 feet -- to
promote healthy lifestyles and raise funds
that help the YMCA build strong kids, strong
families and strong communities.
Participants gathered in the street outside
the YMCA for the Race Expo celebration and
awards ceremony. Members volunteered so
enthusiastically throughout the event from
the Start to Finish Line as well as
Registration tables to ensure that the event
ran smoothly. FYI, we did not participate in
the actual climbing of the stairs, nor would
we even attempt to do so without the proper
training. Perhaps we can train together for
next year's climb?

40th
Annual Western Days, San Dimas
October 6, 2007
About 14 AGS members participated in the
40th Annual Western Days Parade in the
beautiful city of San Dimas on October 6,
2007. San Dimas is known for its Western
heritage and the annual Western Days is a
2-day, fun-filled event that takes the
entire community back into the Old West. The
parade was only one of the highlights of the
celebration.
We were part of the Parade Staff, wore our
"Deputy Badges," and helped guide the flow
of the parade. It was great being part of
such a cultural event and we certainly had
fun encountering cowboys, various high
school bands, and a simply wonderful
community.

Special
Olympics
May 19, 2007
Over 24 Zeta chapter members came out to
support the Special Olympics - San Gabriel
Valley Regional Spring Games on May 19,
2007. Special Olympics is a non-profit
organization dedicated to providing
year-round sports training and competition
in a variety of Olympic-type sports for
people eight years of age and older with
intellectual disabilities, giving them
continuing opportunities to develop physical
fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy
and participate in a sharing of gifts,
skills and friendships with their families,
other Special Olympics athletes and the
community.
The Olympians competed in a wide gamut of
events such track 50 m, 100 m, and 1600 m
relays as well as various other track and
field related events. Our volunteers worked
so enthusiastically throughout the event in
order to make sure everything ran smoothly.
This event holds a special place out of all
our volunteering activities because the Zeta
chapter has shown up and volunteered at this
annual event for the past few years now and
it has become a Zeta chapter tradition. We
couldn't have picked a better cause!

"Dancing
With the Stars" Pomona Valley Workshop
May 4, 2007
AGS members from the Zeta chapter were
proud to support Pomona Valley Workshop (PVW)
on May 4, 2007 in their monthly themed
dinner dances for people with developmental
disabilities. This month's theme was
"Dancing With the Stars." We helped to serve
food, take pictures, chaperone, dance with
the clients, decorate and clean up after the
dance. We all had a wonderful time getting
to know and serve some really great people.
Since 1966, PVW has provided a wide range of
quality services to meet the diverse
employment and social needs of adults who
have developmentally disabilities that
include autism, down syndrome and cerebral
palsy.

Easter
Seal's "Walk With Me"
April 28, 2007
AGS members from the Zeta chapter were
proud to support Easter Seals at their
annual "Walk With Me" event held April 28,
2007 at Knott's Berry Farm. Our passionate
AGS members volunteered enthusiastically
throughout the entire event including areas
such as setup, registration, walk
guides/cheering, refreshments, and
accounting. We also had the opportunity to
meet Miss California/USA Tamiko Nash as well
as Knott's very own Snoopy. :)
Through the generous donations from walkers
and donors, we were able to support Easter
Seal's efforts to provide help and hope for
children, adults and families living with
disabilities. Contributions from walkers and
donors totaled more than $60,000!
Easter Seals assists more than one million
children and adults with disabilities and
their families annually through a nationwide
network of more than 450 service sites. Each
center provides top-quality, family-focused
and innovative services tailored to meet the
specific needs of the particular community
it serves.
Thank you to all those who came out to
volunteer! Let's keep up the great work!

"AGS
Spring 2007 State Conference"
April 21, 2007
A group of 9 members represented the Zeta
chapter of AGS at the Spring 2007 State
Conference held on Saturday April 21, 2007.
AGS chapters throughout California arrived
at the Doubletree Hotel in Ontario for the
three day conference. The theme for this
year's conference was "Keepin' It Real:
Moving Forward With AGS." We participated in
various workshops and seminars focusing on
leadership and teamwork. We also enjoyed the
opportunity to meet and network with other
AGS chapters throughout the state. We came
up with some excellent ideas to further
improve upon our goals here at the Zeta
chapter. Perhaps most importantly, AGS
members throughout the state were awarded
with more than $40,000 in scholarships!
Lastly, the Conference was not all about
business, we also had the opportunity for
some fun as we concluded the full day of
seminars with a dance.
We encourage everyone to join us at next
year's State Conference!

out in today's Pizza Sale and everybody who

huge pizzas and every single slice was sold
out well before our time was up. All of this
could not have been possible without your

"2007 World Water Day"
March 24, 2007
Several
AGS members participated in the 2007 World
Water Day Event on March 23, 2007. The Walk
for Water started at Santa Monica Pier and
ended at Venice Beach as inspired by the
example of women in water stressed countries
who often walk 6 miles each day just to get
water for their family. Despite the apparent
abundance of clean water in the U.S and most
of the developed countries, more than 1
billion people around the world lack clean,
safe drinking water and more than 2.6
million lack adequate sanitation services.
World Water Day is an international day of
observance and action to draw attention to
the plight of the more than 1 billion people
worldwide that lack access to clean and safe
drinking water. Celebrated since 1993, World
Water Day was designated in 1992 when the
United Nation (UN) passed a resolution. We
also enjoyed some live music, free Starbucks
coffee and drinks, muffins, cookies and
Ethos branded water. Overall, we had a great
time while supporting a worthy cause.

"Union
Rescue Mission"
December 2, 2006
Our job
at the URM was to prepare and serve meals
for the poor and homeless people of Los
Angeles. It was such an eye opening
experience that we suggest all AGS members
should give it a try in the future either
with a group or by yourself. Volunteering at
URM allows us to meet people outside our own
social circle and culture. It is a chance to
find out more about the other side of our
community. By helping communities like this
would really expand our horizons and giving
us an insight into new aspects of life.
"5K
Walk For MDA"
November 19, 2006
15 AGS
members showed up on 5K run MDA that was on
November 5th. We met at Mt. SAC at 6:15 am
!!..Some were late too We were at Whittier
Narrow park from around 7 to 12 noon. Some
left earlier than others. We were helping
out with registration, cheering the runner,
counting the money, and passing out t-shirt,
sweatshirt, water bottle, etc. The event had
raised about $16,000. Last time, they only
raised $ 2,000. They were so thankful that
AGS are willing to help out and participate
in this event. Also, They said that they are
looking forward to work with us again in a
future.

"MAD
TV"
November 12, 2006
12
members attended "MadTV" taping at Hollywood
Center Studios on Nov 11, 06. Due to high
demand for the 1st section of the show
started at 4:30pm, we had to wait for the
2nd section which started at 8:30pm. It was
a pity some of our members couldn't stay for
the 2nd section of the show. Those of us
stayed behind were awesome although we had
to remain in the studio till 12:30am. The
show was so BOMB nevertheless!! lol….This
show is a skit comedy show along the lines
of Saturday Night Live, but funnier!!! The
show was hilarious!!! Our group even won a
"Best of MadTV" DVD among our rival PCC and
other colleges.

Regional Conference
November 5, 2006
12
members were able to make it to the 2006
Southern CA AGS Regional Conference held at
Los Angeles Mission College in Sylmar. They
were all able to learn something from the
Conference whether it was via networking
with other Chapter members or listening to
the various seminars from this year's
eclectic group of speakers, know that the
mere fact of experiencing this conference
will empower them in their pursuit of
knowledge, wisdom, and excellence.

Halloween
Haunted House
October 31, 2006
A total
of 6 AGS members attended "Scary Lane
Halloween Haunted House" volunteering event
in West Covina on 10/31. Many thanks to
Cheryl, Nora, Helen, Maria and Tiffany for
dedicating their busy time to volunteer at
the event. These girls were so outstanding
and brilliant, they worked extremely hard to
make this a great Halloween for the
community in West Covina. Some of us
volunteered as the haunted house guides,
taking children going through the scary
lane, while the others were working at the
picture, art and craft booths. The event was
such a success and there were a lot of fun
and joy, AGS would definitely return back
and help at the same event next year.

6th
Annual Day of the Child Event
October 15, 2006
More than
25 AGS members signed up for this very
significant and potentially life-changing
experience. Many of these kids came from
impoverished homes in and out of foster care
and it was absolutely phenomenal to see all
of us working so hard to be a great mentor
to them. Realize that the little time that
we spent with them today will remain in
their memories for years to come and our
care, attention, and love will give them the
much needed hope in their otherwise bleak
situation to helm them achieve their dreams
and aspirations.

Walnut Festival
October 14, 2006
The event
went very smoothly and we were all
immediately put to work early in the
morning. I was extremely surprised that
everyone showed up on time (before 6:30 AM)
and came with full of energy and
expectations. We were all assigned to
different street intersections and basically
controlled traffic for 4 hours. While a
total of 13 AGS members showed up. We should
be very proud of our organization because
asking college students to wake up at 5:00
AM for community service is as difficult as
asking college students to take an oath of
alcohol sobriety.
